What does it involve?
The police force is involved in performing the following duties –
- Promote & preserve public order
- Investigate crimes, apprehend offenders & participate in subsequent legal proceedings.
- Reduce opportunities for commission of crime through preventive patrol.
- Aid individuals who are in danger of physical harm.
- Provide appropriate services & afford relief to people in distress situations.
- Facilitate orderly movement of people and vehicles.
Eligibility and Recruitment
Career opportunities in the police force include Indian Police Service (IPS), State Police Force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
Young and budding male and female aspirants can join the police force by clearing various eligibility tests conducted by the state and central recruitment agencies like UPSC (for IPS) and State Police services (for e.g. KSP). Candidates have to undergo Physical and Endurance Tests besides a medical exam before they can become eligible for the written test.
