B.E/B.Tech Entrance Examinations
1. JEE Main and Advanced
Admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IITs, other centrally funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments, and several other Institutions shall involve the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). The JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs. As per the new scheme, the JEE (Main) – 2019 exam would be conducted twice in the year in the months of January and April. In case a candidate appears in both the tests, the better of the two scores will be used for the admissions and eligibility for JEE (Advanced)-2019. Students can opt for English/Hindi/Gujarati as the medium for the test paper. The option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.
Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on All India Rank subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class 12 examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the Class 12 examination.
Aspirants have the choice of appearing in any one of the two types of papers, or both. Paper 1 is for those going in for the
B.E/B.Tech courses in colleges accepting JEE (Main) ranks while Paper 2 is for those who wanting to go in for architecture and planning.
For admissions to IITs, the candidates will have to appear in the Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main). Based on the performance in Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main), number of top candidates as per the requirement of JEE (Advanced) (including all categories) will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced). Admissions to IITs will be based only on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced).
Mode of exam
Paper 1 will be in online mode (computer-based test – CBT). The Mathematics and Aptitude section of Paper 2 will be in online mode (CBT) and the questions to test drawing aptitude will be a pen and paper-based examination.
Structure of the exam
Paper 1: It is a three-hour paper comprising three sections: part 1 – physics, part 2 – chemistry and part 3 – mathematics. There are 30 questions in each of three subjects; which are of objective type-multiple choice with single correct answer. In each section there are 30 questions of four marks each. One should be very careful as there is one-fourth negative marking for every question.
Paper 2: This three-hour paper consists of part 1 – mathematics, part 2 – aptitude and part 3 – drawing. The mathematics section has 30 objective type multiple-choice questions (total -120 marks) with single correct option and one-fourth negative marking. In this part, the syllabus for mathematics includes common topics from Class 11 and 12 CBSE or state Boards. The aptitude section has 50 objective (200 marks), multiple-choice questions with four options and one-fourth negative marking. There are two questions in the drawing test for 70 marks.

2. BITSAT
BITSAT is a Computer based online test for admissions to Integrated First Degree Programmes of BITS Pilani Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
Eligibility Criteria
For admission to B.E and M.Sc Courses
i. Candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). The candidate should have scored a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in 12th exam in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects along with at least 60% marks in each subject.
ii. Adequate proficiency in English.
3. Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET)
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility/merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to full time courses in Engineering, Pharmacy, Farm Science courses i.e, Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Sc. (Sericulture), B.Sc (Horticulture), B.Sc (Forestry), B.Sc. Agri Bio Tech, BHSc.(Home Science), B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.FSc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science &Tech)., B.Sc. (Agri. Marketing & Co-Op), B.Pharma and Pharma-D course, in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka.

4. PES Scholastic Aptitude Test – PESSAT
This is a National level online exam conducted by PES University, Bengaluru for admissions to Engineering programs.
5. Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam – VITEEE
This is a Computer Based Test (CBT) for admissions to Engineering programs. VIT has campuses at Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati. In the general category, an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology is required to be eligible for the exam. For SC/ST candidates, students from NE states and Jammu & Kashmir an aggregate of 50% in PCM/B is necessary. Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B.Tech. Bioengineering and B.Tech. Biotechnology programmes.
6. SNUSAT and APT
A combined three hour test administered in more than 100 Pearson VUE test centers across India for admissions to various courses in Shiv Nadar University
1. SNU Scholastic Aptitude Test (SNUSAT) – 2 hours. The assessment includes Verbal reasoning, Quantitative ability, Abstract reasoning and Essay
2. Academic Proficiency Test (APT) – 1 hour Test in Physics (20 min) and Mathematics (40 min) for admissions to the School of Engineering
Architecture Entrance Exams for admissions to B.Arch programs
1. National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)
Prospective applicants desirous of taking admission to First year of undergraduate course in Architecture (Bachelor of Architecture) in India take NATA. NATA scores are used by admissions authorities of different Government, Govt. Aided & unaided schools / colleges of Architecture, to provide common measure for comparing the qualifications of applicants for admission in addition to their scholastic performance in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.
Eligibility – Candidates having 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination with mathematics as one of the subject, only are eligible for admission to B.Arch.Course.
2. Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)
Candidates desirous of pursuing Architecture at IIT Kharagpur or IIT Roorkee should clear the JEE (Advanced) to be eligible to write the Architecture Aptitude Test. AAT is conducted only at the seven zonal coordinating IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee).
