Nature of Work
The spa and wellness expert or manager is the person in charge of running a spa and is responsible for the daily operations of the spa, whether it is a free-standing spa or part of a larger facility. Staff at the spa would report to the spa manager. Core responsibilities include:
- managing spa staff including hiring, training, delegating and overseeing
- administrative duties like book-keeping, appointment / employee scheduling, vendor interactions, managing inventory
- ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations
- handling clients
- advertising and marketing

Work Opportunities
Career paths begin in spa customer service or therapy roles, such as salon professionals such as hair or nail technicians, skin experts such as aestheticians, massage experts, anti-aging and other experts. Spas often offer a holistic client experience and may combine professionals providing ayurvedic therapy, herbal treatments, natural treatments, meditation / yoga therapy, fitness classes, nutrition and dietary coaches.
