Nature of Work
Group C includes staff at the ground level in supportive and non-supervisory jobs like multi-tasking staff, clerks, stenographers / typists, assistants, telephone operators, primary teachers, constables, havildar, assistant sub-inspector, technician, mechanic, attendant, electrician, cashier, chemist, etc. All non-technical Group C posts are recruited by Staff Selection Commission.
Essential Skills and Qualities
Those in Group C perform conventional office duties and primarily should be diligent, detail-oriented, capable of repetitive tasks, and be well organised. They must be well-versed with the process and documentary requirements of specific departments and function accordingly. They should be capable of working with other government employees and dealing with the public.
Qualifying Path
SSC-MTS (Multitasking Staff) is conducted for Group C & D posts for those who have passed 10th class.
SSC-CHSL (Combines Higher Secondary Level) is conducted for Group C posts which require minimum 12th class or 2nd PUC. This exam is conducted once a year based on the vacancies in all government departments.
SSC-CGL (Combined Graduate Level) is conducted for Group B & C posts which require minimum degree in any discipline.
SSC-JE (Junior Engineer) is conducted for Technical positions in Govt Departments for B & C groups with Engineering degrees / diploma.
