Biomedical engineering is an area of life sciences that combines engineering techniques with biology and finds extensive application in the healthcare sector. It is an interdisciplinary field that cuts across medicine, health, biology, and traditional engineering fields. Biomedical engineers or BMEs, as they are called, work to design, create and improve medical devices such as prosthetics, artificial organs, MRI machines along with the microscopic machines used in surgery.
