Air Hostess
Flight attendants are responsible for the comfort, care and safety of the passengers during a flight. They welcome the passengers on board the aircraft and demonstrate safety and emergency procedures before the flight takes off. They need to communicate with the terminal to ensure that all expected passengers have boarded the flight. Duty begins long before the arrival of passengers and starts with safety check, ensuring safety equipment, blankets, pillows, magazines, medicines and so on. Special care has to be given to sick travelers, babies and VIPs. Depending on the duration of the flight they need to serve refreshments, food and drinks. The duties also include dealing with passenger enquiries and complaints. Besides, the flight attendants are also involved in selling products from the

Career as an air hostess will last for about 10 years. Later, one can move on to ground duties, as ground hostess, check hostess, trainer of air hostesses and so on.
Requirements
Married/Unmarried (depends on the airline) girls who meet the following requirements are eligible for selection:
- Graduate or HSC (Plus Two) with a three-year diploma in hotel management and catering technology from institutes affiliated to National Council of Hotel Management or degree in hotel management from a recognised Indian university.
- The aspirant should be between 19 and 26 years of age, with a height of at least 157.5 centimeters, with weight proportionate to the height as per the standards set.
- Excellent communication skills. Should be fluent in English and at least one Indian language.
- Should have a pleasing personality.
- Ability to work long and erratic hours.
- Ability to keep calm during an emergency.
- Presence of mind
- Knowledge of a foreign language is desirable though not essential.
- Aspirants should possess a valid Indian passport at the time of the interview
Training
The training is usually for a period of six months – 1 year. The course usually covers the following aspects:
a) Introduction to Aviation Industry.
b) Crew member co-ordination & communication.
c) Customer Service.
d) Safety & Emergency Procedures.
e) Medical Emergency & Medical Training
f) Introduction to Dangerous Goods & Hazardous materials.
g) Aviation Security.
